The Encore Ballet Festival (EBF) is a two-day ballet festival and competition for adult dancers ages 18 and over, held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dancers of every level take master classes, perform solo or ensemble pieces, receive formal adjudication, and celebrate together at an awards ceremony and social hour. The next festival takes place July 2 and 3, 2027.Encore was created by Artistic Director Teruyo Davis for adults who love ballet and want a place to perform, learn, and be recognized for their dedication. Dancers register on their own or through a studio and choose the level that fits their training: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or Semi-Professional. Professional dancers perform in a non-competitive exhibition.

Yes. The Encore Ballet Festival is an adult ballet competition with a Beginner level for dancers with fewer than three years of ballet training. Beginners compete alongside dancers at their own level, take the same master classes as every participant, and are adjudicated with the same care. Adults returning to ballet after time away are welcome too. Dancers choose the level that fits their training.

The Encore Ballet Festival has five levels for adult dancers. Beginner is for fewer than three years of training. Intermediate is three to seven years. Advanced is more than seven years, for dancers who have not performed professionally. Semi-Professional is for dancers with production experience or pre-professional training who are not full-time professionals. Professional is a non-competitive exhibition for current and former professionals.

Performances at the Encore Ballet Festival are adjudicated by an independent panel of ballet professionals, who evaluate technical execution, musicality, artistry, and stage presence. Awards are presented at the Saturday evening ceremony and include Overall Excellence, Artistry & Expression, Best Ensemble Performance, Judge’s Choice, and Technical Precision. Dancers receive thoughtful feedback in a supportive setting.

Every participant creates a DanceCompGenie profile, either as an independent dancer or through a studio, then follows the prompts to choose a level and performance, solo or ensemble, and complete the registration fee.
